Quick Answer
For a Light and Darkness KvK3, plan around your camp's objectives, the current chronicles and the scheduled fighting windows. Soluna contributions, honor activity and territory decisions all matter, but they are not interchangeable scoring systems.
Do not assume KvK3 is simply a longer KvK2 or a crystal-tech SoC season. Read the actual rules on your account before spending toward commander availability, a map objective or a reward deadline.
What Changes in Light and Darkness?
The Light and Darkness format groups kingdoms into opposing sides and includes its own map progression, objectives and Grace of Soluna development. The format reference describes ruins, Soluna contributions and staged activities. Some of its schedules and commander-era assumptions are historical, so this guide does not turn those dates into a universal current calendar.
Your first task is to write down the currently selected format, camp, alliance assignment and the next contested opening. If the event shown differs from the classic Light and Darkness structure, follow that season's rules rather than forcing it into this guide's historical map description.
Grace of Soluna
Where Grace of Soluna is active, Soluna Coins support kingdom development through donations. Inspect the available ways to earn coins and coordinate the donation priorities leadership has chosen. Spending into a random available node can conflict with the kingdom's intended unlock.
Treat the coins as their own currency. They are not your personal Season of Conquest crystal bank, and a crystal simulator is not the correct planning tool for them.
Plan Around Objectives
| Situation | Personal job | Leadership job |
|---|---|---|
| Before a contested opening | Prepare troops, healing and the assigned pair | Publish times, rallies and reinforcement rules |
| Ruins or another limited-entry objective | Bring the strongest permitted march | Coordinate attendance and target pressure |
| Territory advance | Stay within the requested support area | Choose routes and defend the connection |
| Staged gathering/training/PvE activity | Read the scoring trigger before claiming or spending | Coordinate buffs and avoid conflicting demands |
Ruins restrictions matter. If only a limited march count is permitted, improving that march can be more valuable than levelling an extra secondary that will not enter. Check the current capacity and entry rules before the timer opens.
Commander Availability and the Next Investment
Older guides disagree about when later-generation commanders can be used because the restrictions changed over time. Use the availability text and events in your kingdom. Do not spend based on a historical statement that all endgame commanders are either universally allowed or universally prohibited in KvK3.
Choose a complete pair you can field during the relevant window. If a newer commander unlocks late, keep the established march usable until the replacement has the skills and equipment to do its job.
A War Budget That Lasts
Reserve resources and healing speedups for contested days. Complete scheduled PvE and honor tasks without automatically spending every AP bottle. For each ranking push, decide the achievable reward and the maximum extra spend before starting.
If you run out of healing resources after the first fight, more field queues will not help. Reduce the number of exposed marches, send correct reinforcements and rebuild the bank. Being available for the next objective matters more than winning a personal argument over one report.
Closing the Season
Read each reward's claim conditions and timer. Check whether contributions must occur in a specific alliance or stage. Before the transition to Season of Conquest, review permanent equipment and commander priorities separately from the temporary season economy.
Should I use an old Light and Darkness map as an exact current route?
Use it to understand the format, then compare it with your in-game map. Pass openings, selected formats and revised rules can make an old route or calendar misleading.
