Quick Answer
This is the original epic Scipio Africanus. He is an early leadership commander with sustain/capacity-oriented utility, not legendary Scipio Prime. If you are looking for the legendary infantry commander and his support kit, use the Scipio Prime guide.
Use epic Scipio when he fills a practical early role with the skills already on your account. Do not invest in him expecting the result shown in a Prime commander video.
What He Offers
His kit includes defensive/counterattack-oriented effects, a city-attack component and troop-capacity utility. His talents are Leadership, Conquering and Attack. Those are different from Prime's Infantry, Versatility and Support trees. The epic commander reference is the relevant source for this version.
The city-attack skill is not a recommendation to hit developed cities. A skill condition describes where a bonus works; it does not establish that your account can afford the likely losses.
Early Pairing Decisions
If Scipio is already developed, compare him with an available damage or support secondary rather than starting another commander merely to complete the pairing. Epic Sun Tzu can provide damage; epic Joan can provide support where her skills fit the task.
For a dedicated early infantry field project, compare Bjorn/Sun Tzu as a distinct plan. Do not spread epic sculptures across several competing front-line commanders before one march works.
Primary and Secondary
As primary, Scipio uses his own talents and equipment. As secondary, his applicable skills can contribute, but his talents do not. Troop-capacity effects need to be checked in the actual pairing and mode; they do not mean the Castle's rally limit has changed.
Prioritise the level and stars that serve the role. Taking an occasional secondary to level 60 while the main primary lacks levels is often a poor use of experience.
Skills and Talent Direction
Develop the active skill first and examine the field-relevant passives before spending toward expertise. His Leadership/Attack priorities depend on the army and job; Conquering is not the natural route for an ordinary field march. This guide provides role decisions rather than claiming a verified full allocation.
Equipment and Replacement
Equip for the actual troops in the march, not simply for the name “Leadership.” A mixed army is not automatically the best army. If the secondary's important buffs require one troop type, account for the bonuses lost when mixing units.
Keep using a functioning early commander until the planned replacement has usable skills and equipment. Then stop feeding scarce experience and attention into a role that no longer matters. Epic Scipio's usefulness should be judged on its own budget, not against a fully expertised Prime you do not yet own.
Does upgrading epic Scipio unlock Prime?
No. They are separate commanders. Prime has his own acquisition, stars, experience and skill costs.
