The useful derived number: a legendary costs roughly 1.6x an epic. That ratio is the entire argument for building epics first — 440 is finishable in a season, 690 usually is not.

The practical calculation: count your monthly sculpture income (alliance shop, event stores, expedition medals, tavern chests), divide 440 by it, and you have your realistic time-to-finish. If that number is more than a season, pick a cheaper commander.

2. Troop Training

What people actually want here is "can I afford this batch", which has three inputs:

Resources — food and wood mostly, scaling hard with tier.
Time — reduced by training speed research, civilization bonus, VIP and the Duke kingdom title at roughly 10%.
Hospital capacity — the constraint nobody calculates until they lose an army.

The rule that beats any calculator: never train more troops than your hospital can heal. A calculator will happily tell you the cost of a batch that will get permanently killed the first time you lose a fight.

3. VIP Points

VIP is a simple accumulation: the screen shows points needed for the next level, and your free income is the daily VIP chest.

The question is always "do I have enough for the push". Add up your banked minutes by type, compare against the remaining time on the queue.

Two things a calculator will not tell you:

Research speedups are the scarce type, because T5 research consumes enormous amounts.

5. City Hall and T5 Planning

The big one, and the only calculation genuinely worth a spreadsheet.

To reach City Hall 25 you need every building at 25, which means sixteen Master's Blueprints (roughly 2,000 gems each if bought outright — about 32,000 gems), plus Castle 25 and its thousands of Books of Covenant from fort rallies, plus Academy 25 and the research chain.

Gathering, If You Want One More

Output = gathering speed × load capacity × trips. All three are improved by gathering commanders, research, and alliance territory at +25%.

The dominant variable is not any of those, though — it is march queues, which come from City Hall 5, 11, 17 and 22. Doubling your queues doubles your economy more reliably than any percentage bonus.
