Quick Answer
A good alliance description answers four questions in the first two lines: what power level you want, what time zone you run on, what you expect from members, and what you offer. Everything else is decoration. Descriptions that lead with lore and end with requirements get applications from people who never read past line one.
Overview
Recruitment is the difference between an alliance that survives a KvK season and one that quietly empties out. Your description is the advert, and most alliances write it as a mission statement instead.
The players you want are scanning a list of alliances, reading two lines each. Write for that.
The Structure That Works
Line 1 — who you want. Minimum power, language, time zone. Line 2 — what you expect. Daily activity, rally attendance, KvK participation. Line 3 — what you give. Territory, tech level, rally support, Discord. Line 4 — how to join. Apply, or contact a name.
Four lines. Anyone who reads all four knows whether they fit.
Templates
General recruiting alliance
[Alliance Name] — recruiting active governors, 2M+ power, EN speaking.
Expect: daily help + gathering, join scheduled forts and Osiris.
We give: full territory, high alliance tech, rally support, active R4s.
Apply in-game or ask any R4. New players welcome if you log in daily.
Competitive / KvK-focused alliance
[Alliance Name] — KvK-serious. 10M+ power, T4 minimum, EN, EU hours.
Expect: DKP requirements met, Osiris attendance, rally calls answered.
We give: organised rallies, Discord comms, coordinated pass pushes.
Apply with your power, troop tier and main commander pair.
Beginner-friendly / growth alliance
[Alliance Name] — new and returning governors welcome. No power minimum.
Expect: log in daily, tap alliance help, gather in territory.
We give: safe territory, teleports for new members, help with your first KvK.
Apply in-game. Ask questions in chat — nobody here bites.
Farm / secondary account alliance
[Alliance Name] — farm accounts and alts only.
Expect: keep marches gathering, do not draw attention, no PvP.
We give: territory access, protection, resource nodes.
Main account must be in [Main Alliance].
Writing the Rest
Alliance name and tag. Short, readable, memorable. A three-character tag people can type in chat beats a clever one they misspell.
The notice / announcement. This is for current members, not recruits. Use it for the next rally time, the current KvK objective, and the tech being donated. Update it — a notice from three weeks ago tells new members everything they need to know about how the alliance is run.
Application requirements. Ask for power, troop tier and main commander pair. It filters out drive-by applicants and starts a useful conversation. If you run an alliance quiz, keep it to two questions about activity and time zone — long quizzes lose good applicants.
What Not to Put in a Description
- Walls of lore. Nobody is choosing an alliance on flavour text.
- Requirements you do not enforce. "10M+ only" while accepting everyone teaches members that rules are decorative.
- Nothing but "recruiting". It reads as a dead alliance, because usually it is one.
- Aggressive threats toward other alliances. It attracts exactly the drama you will spend your evenings managing.
Keeping Recruitment Working
- Post in kingdom chat at your active hours, not at 4am.
- Update the description when your requirements change — especially before KvK.
- Prune inactives so slots go to people who show up. Slots are your scarcest resource.
- Give new members a reason to stay in the first week — a teleport into territory, help with their first fort rally, and an introduction in chat. See the alliance guide.
FAQ
What should I put in my Rise of Kingdoms alliance description?
Power requirement, language and time zone, what you expect from members, what the alliance provides, and how to apply. In that order.
How long should an alliance description be?
Four lines. Recruits scan; they do not read.
What are good alliance recruitment requirements?
Power, troop tier and daily activity for a general alliance; add DKP and Osiris attendance for a competitive one.
Should I use an alliance quiz?
Only a short one. Two questions about activity and time zone filter effectively; long quizzes lose applicants you wanted.
How do I recruit more members?
Post in kingdom chat during your active hours, keep the description current, and make the first week worthwhile for new joiners.
